In the middle of the last century, a visionary collector from Trieste convinced the man who had risen into the stratosphere, higher than anyone else, to do the opposite: to descend where no one had ever been. And so Auguste Piccard and his son Jacques, urged on and supported by Diego de Henriquez, designed the bathyscaphe that would touch the deepest point on the planet. Built in Italian shipyards, it was named Trieste in honour of the city where it was conceived, and in a historic dive in January 1960 it reached the depths of the Mariana Trench.
Il Trieste draws its inspiration from the fascination of this story: an unusual instrumental quartet of musicians from different backgrounds, united by the desire to explore borderline sounds, searching the depths for what the surface conceals. A band that defies labels and blends different currents in a journey to the abyss and back, in constant pursuit of a sound that can best express the expressive urgency of the moment.
